UPDATE: I have decided to release the photoreefs in separate volumes which corrispond to each PW Sceneries area. So the first release will cover the Grenada area. This one is coming along nicely and I hope to have it ready in the next week or two. After that the rest should come thick and fast!

Yes we will. Although it will be brief as there's not much to test.

Its not an FSX bug. Its just poor waterclass. There are four different classes of shallow tropical water, and then four levels of algae for each class, but the default FSX waterclass only seems to use one or two - which gives alot of repetitiveness. But water texture tiles are only 1km x 1km, so you'll always get repetiveness. Its probably even harder to blend them with masks as it is land textures. I have tried hard with the PWS waterclass to minimise this effect by only using class 1 (the really shallow and "in-your-face" one) very sparingly, but you still get some repetitiveness.
This project will obviously sort that by giving you real world reefs in their real world position. Of course this comes with its own problem, the biggest one being getting it all to blend so that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. Thats what I'm working on at the moment.
Covering the whole world with this is just not feasible. For example, the southern area of Grenada is about 40Mb just for the reefs. So you can imagine what sort of file size you'd get from large areas.
However, it would be feasible for someone to make a world wide waterclass that makes use of all the different classes. I'm very suprised a payware dev hasn't done this yet. It would be difficult to automate which is probably the reason why they have not.

Just to prove this project is far from dead... Some PWS Photoreefs Vol 1 WIP shots. Please bare in mind these are not finished. Due to the data source being different to those used to draw the coastlines there are a few alignment issues which are still being ironed out. But I hope you'll see that its blending in nicely. NOTE - This is what you will see with default FSX water textures. No REX or FEX required!
